The wheel of emotions
About
This article, produced by the 5.3 training organisation, presents the origins and relevance of the emotion wheel as a tool for identifying and verbalising emotions. The emotion wheel was created based on the work of psychologist Paul Ekman in the 1970s, which identified the existence of six primary emotions felt by everyone: joy, anger, sadness, surprise, fear, and disgust. The wheel allows visualisation of the different layers of emotions that each of these six major emotions encompasses. The verbalisation of emotions thus becomes more accurate and precise thanks to an expanded vocabulary, helping to avoid situations of conflict and unspoken feelings.
